What Exactly Is Thanksgiving For?

Well, for most normal Americans, it means a time of year in which we can all come together and be grateful that we aren't stuck in some third world country picking food out of landfills. Instead we gorge ourselves on dry turkey, canned cranberry sauce and wayyyy too much pie. But for me, Thanksgiving has exactly three meanings, no school, BLACK FRIDAY (which should be what we celebrate anyway) and the start of the Christmas season. Who really cares about turkeys and pilgrims and all of that nonsense. Not me.

All I am really excited about is being able to start listening to Christmas music, like Sara, I CANNOT listen until the day after Thanksgiving. It also means prime shopping time, although I'm practically finished with everyone except Joel's brother who is nearly impossible to buy anything for. But Christmas is always such a warm, happy time in my life every since I can remember. So bring on the Ella Fitzgerald and A Christmas Story, because I'm ready!

So for those of you who actually LIKE Thanksgiving, sorry to offend, but we all know Thanksgiving is just the boring previews before the movie.

SPEAKING OF MOVIES. Holy New Moon. Now I don't want to be one of those bloggers that ruin everything for the people that haven't seen it yet. But ohhheeemmgeee. This first one does not even compare to the new one. Attention to detail was amazing! GO SEE ITTTT NOWWW. And I am again tonight!<3

So Happy Thanksgiving to my followers, may yours be happy and blessed. And may your turkey not be dry.

I'm An Awful Blogger

Well, I'm going to try much harder to be a better blogger now that I have more than one follower, that means more than one person actually cares about what I have to say.

Recap of life lately: It's exactly two days until Thanksgiving, and as excited I am about having a few days off I'm torn. This is just the start of my life without being so near my family. Thanksgiving is just the start of all the holidays and I won't have my family. I'm leaving to go to Mississippi in just a few days and I couldn't be more excited. I miss my family and friends so much.

But the good news is that things are looking up for me here in Indiana. I'm going to be able to get a substantial amount of finanical aid for next semester and I'm finally back on track with school. I'll be stuck taking summer school for the next...forever... but that's okay. It's all I want. And I'm starting to make a few good friends here.

Love, Life and God are good.

Day Four.

Today was nothing out of the ordinary. But epic nonetheless. I woke up wayyyy early to be at church to check in for Carefest. Which is a group of 700 volunteers coming together to work on projects around the community.

Joel's mom and i decided to work at the animal shelter. So we got there at eight and spent the next three and a half hours working on painting the dog's kennels all nice and white. There was a dog there that looked JUST like my dog, Gizmo, that died earlier this year. :( it was creepy but kinda nice, like she was reincarnated into a dog there for me to take care of.

Anyway, Joel's mom and I were talking about adopting her but then she said "why don't we just bring Kenzie up here?"

Now for those of you that don't know, Kenzie Harlow is the love of my life baby dog who I haven't had in almost a year! She's the one in the picture on top, obviously. :P

So that was greatttt! and then Nancy, Joel's mom, bought me two new bras at Victoria's Secret. Very sweet, she's one of the most giving people i've ever met in my life. I loooove them.

Then Joel got home and I worked on my Halloween costume. (pictures when it's all done). Then he and i went on a walk and were talking and i've pretty much decided to change my major back to elementary education, my original plan and deepest calling. I'm happy, it doesn't seem like settling. I'm excited and can't wait to get started on it all.

Oh! annnnnd Joel's friend Clay is looking for a roommate for next year. So we may actually get our own apartment!

Life is good, God is good. Goodnight you guys <3

Day Three

Jeez, I'm already bad at this blogging thing. I've always said I was a little girl with millions of diaries and never wrote in one. But, I promise, I'll be better about it.

The past few days have been otherwise uneventful. I've completely finished my classes for this semester. Thank God. So now I just have to work to pass the time until next semester and try to find a way to get money for school! ughhh.

Let's see. Oh! I got invited to a Halloween party by a girl at work, Issy. Which is thrilling and lets me know that maybe JUST MAYBE I'll actually make friends here in Indiana. :) So last night I went to Hobby Lobby and got a pattern for my halloween outfit, Alice in Wonderland. I'm really excited. But now that means in like a week I have to have this entire thing done and how knows how long it'll take, but I guess that gives me something to do to pass the time.

That's all for now, nothing too exciting left to say.<3

Day Two.

Good news! Today has most definitely been much more my style, and a lot less cranky. I slept through church after taking a tylenol pm last night. :/ i guess that's okay every once in a while.

After I woke up, I spend most of my day writing a paper on 9/11 for my history class. Only one exam to go and i'm finished for this semester! wooooohoooo! that means i have to start saving for my next set of classes and/or trying to figure out how to get a loan. I hate being so far behind. But today Joel was really sweet and said I was destined for bigger things than just settling for just any old career. He's sweet when he wants to be.

After my paper, Joel got home from his football game, he's playing intermurals and it's so cute. He's making good friends and stuff (with girlfriends!). Then we were pretty lazy for a bit and started looking for apartments. We're hopefully going to be getting one late next summer! That would be great. Somewhere for my wine glasses and picture frames to be around. The apartment we like is SO tiny but so cute, just a tiny little studio apartment. It's only $400 a month WITH utilities. So sweet. I can't wait. :)

After that we went to the pumpkin patch, and got two GIGANTIC pumpkins and two teeny ones. THEN we had amazing thai-style scallops with pasta and bean sprouts. sooo good. Then we watched the pilot for glee. obsessed! and here we are.

all is good in my world. all my love, goodnight.

Day One.

Well, this is blogging. I'm not really sure exactly what it is I'm supposed to be talking about in this, but i think this is a good start. all i can keep thinking about is that twix commerical where the guy talks about blogging his ideals with some girl just to get in his pants.

But, for blogging purposes, today is Saturday, October 17, 2009. Um, like 9 pm and you would think a girl at the ripe old age of 19 would be out and about doing something, but you would be wrong. Although this is a big college town, I've yet to make one stinkin' friend. Other than a lady in her 40's at work, who I happen to adore.

Joel is out in town with a guy friend and was supposed to be home a few hours ago to hang out with me, but you know how that goes. I'm not worried about it. I'm just that much more determined to make my own friends so I don't have to depend on him for things to do.

On an brighter note, (pinky promise no more emo today!), I went into Indianapolis to a great mall. Looked around at Tiffany's (i wish!) and Sephora. Ate suchhh good food at cheesecake factory and did a little more shopping. Only walked away with some wine glasses from Crate and Barrel, got them for $4 a piece! Such a good deal. I'm so ready for my own home and my things in the cabinent and my pictures in the living room!

Those dreams will have to wait just a little longer. For now, I'm just a little girl in this great big world.

G'night you guys.
